Fires

[EDIT 11/2/2009] 181 [EDIT 9/2/2009] 108 [EDIT]84 66 dead, 700 homes, 2 towns -gone-, not damaged,

GONE

we're fine, its rained overnight and today, which has made everything extra damp, which is great

details of the scope of the disaster here

in the advent of fire, m'lady and the Chosen One will evacuate at first sign, and i will stay and defend the house. i have several contingency plans, and have witnessed bushfire and grass-fires before.

chaos_crafter has selflessly volunteered to come and help me, if needs be, he's "just down the hill" and its always good policy to "dive-with-a-buddy"

just so you all know, and before you tell me off . . .
i have been told, in no uncertain terms, that i am not to "be a hero" and die for my home. i can live with that, i have a lot to live for.

Selby, Olinda is on the other side of the mountain, close, but ok.

*nods* ok. Glad you're all ok. Hadn't been watching the news and then turned it on to hear 66 dead, and checked for all the current fires.

Be safe. Speak soon.

Thinking of anyone living in a possible bushfire area. Glad you have plans - that's half the battle.

Good to hear you've got your plan ready. The death toll is horrible.

Good luck... and I'm glad to read the last line. Things are things. Lives are precious. Take care, all of you.

thank you so much! it really has been an eye opener, it was a disaster, that those two towns where just -eaten- by fire, but 12 years of drought, 4 days of 110F, never a good mix . . .
